We’ll be in Arizona soon. (I’m so excited- and nervous.)
I’ve become more accustomed than not, to having paint and glue on my hair and skin. (even my loofah won’t remove the stuff, and I’m a scrubber.)
Brian’s honesty makes me try harder. (Angel Wings part I)
It’s getting real summer-y around here, with prickly heat included. (can’t stop itching my face!!!!!)
I’ve found that practicing the guitar at 1 a.m. doesn’t wake anyone up. (the violin surely would.)
I’ve almost run out of my big giant bottle of craft glue and I’m all out of the super-awesome glue the 4-H’s gave me for my birthday. (that’s sad.)
Danny has been the best prop maker buddy known to mom. (for realz)
There is a strange satisfaction in ripping apart your work- when you know it can be rebuilt, better. (Angel Wings part II)
Salsa dinners never disappoint. (never ever)
Bagels from The Bakery for breakfast are a thing to look forward to. (I got me some dairy free cream cheese substitute- I don’t think it’s going to be as good as cream cheese- nope, I sure don’t.)
Night swimming by citronella candle light is fun. (very.)
There’s a bakery nearby, it’s called The Bakery. It’s great. I mean it’s really great. Bread, keiser rolls, bagels, danishes, muffins, cookies, etc etc…..but what’s better than the fact that they have these things is, these things they have are good. Tasty tasty good. Well today we were in the right place- (Dunnellon) at the right time, (regular business hours) to pay a call at The Bakery. We bought bread and treats and hard rolls… then we got out fast- because man oh man that place makes me want to “cheat on my diet” bad. Okay, not that fast actually, because the truth is, as great as they are, the one thing they don’t have is great parking or easy access. They’re worth the trouble to get in and out of, but …Oye!
Tuesday’s are dance rehearsal days. Such fun. The Small House of Uncle Thomas dance is coming along quite nicely. I can’t wait to see it all put together with costumes and everything. It’s going to be awesome.
Tonight, I made some adjustments to the Siamese Angel wings I’m working on for the Angel/Little Eva characters. I think they’re going to look really cool. I’d take a picture, but I’m too tired. It will have to wait until morning.
The ducklings. So cute, and growing so quickly. They spend most of their day(s) resting under the Azalea bush. A happy seeming sort of life. There is however, a dark side to their existence. First, they are heavily persecuted by the mean tormentor, Despair, aka Papa Duck. He picks them up by their necks and they squeak and squeak. Eventually they get away or he plops them down- them being whichever one was the slowest as he was coming at them (of course I can’t help but wonder if he acts this way as some sort of evolutionary process that weeds out the weaker ones. A sort of learn to get away from danger quickly lesson.) The other dark side, the darker dark side, is… they can’t all stay here. Eventually they’ll have to live somewhere else- I think. I mean, twelve full grown ducks sounds like a lot of ducks. The math in my head says that’s a lot of ducks. My math skills are generally remedial, but I’m fairly competent at estimates, most of the time. I estimate that twelve ducks is a lot of ducks on this one-point-two-five acres. hmmmm…..
Oh man, life always seems to get better. At least we spend a lot of time smiling. Here’s a list of awesome with added awesome. (in no particular order)
I finished the masks I was working on. I am so pleased with how they came out. Done-awesome.
Corn on the cob is in season. Cherries and blueberries are on sale. Yippee-awesome.
Cory and Danny got hair cut today and of course, they look awesome. (it was at a hair cutter- not a home cut, by me- added awesome. The haircuts I give take tooooo looong.)
I gave Brian a nice short summer buzz. He’s happy. That’s awesome.
Sandwich season is in full swing, we had home-made subs for dinner. Yum-awesome.
Today was jam packed with rehearsal for the whole family. Brian who has been upgraded to the role of Kralahome (awesome) had his first rehearsal. The boys had dance rehearsal (things are looking really good there.) and I had singing rehearsal with the other wives. Three for the price of one-awesome.
After rehearsals and haircuts we swam and swam. Right now our favorite thing to do it make whirlpools and then try to walk against the current once it going pretty strong. Fun-awesome.
Not to mention, just in general, night swimming means fireflies are out. Day swimming means sunshine, butterflies and big green trees. Naturally-awesome.
Looking into next week we have more rehearsals scheduled. I have more props to start working on..angel wings…warrior staffs….a parade dragon head!!!! Hello-awesome! as always there’s schoolish type stuff to do. More swimming. Danny’s birthday party to plan. And a trip to Arizona coming soon. I’m serious, life keeps getting better. And that is so awesome.
Our “currently reading” tool doesn’t always find the books I’m reading, when I enter the title. I include the author, still no luck. If I use the ISBN number, it usually finds what I’m reading (finally!) but, tonight I put in the title, author and ISBN number and amazon couldn’t find it. Weird. I’m too tired to investigate but I suspect if I looked on Amazon.com I’d find it…..a little more grrr…. a simple highlight-right-click-google search and wouldn’t you know the FIRST site to pop up is Amazon….
“Amazon.com: Edna St. Vincent Millay: Selected Poems : The …
Amazon.com: Edna St. Vincent Millay: Selected Poems : The Centenary Edition (9780060167332): Edna St. Vincent Millay, Colin Falck: Books.

What is up with that, I ask you..?…my (mild) opinion….not awesome.
Oh well. What’s really awesome(I guess) is, I’m still squeezing in a moment to read, in spite of all (cue dramatic music) the things (enter sarcasm) I’ve been doing lately (harassing my housemates in the name of encouragement, and playing with paste and water isn’t really a lot- I don’t think. Haven’t saved the world haven’t even come close to going in that direction…holy hell!)
RrrrrT (sound of squeaking tires stopping)…what is up with the negativity? Right? Might be all the glue I’ve been working with affecting my brain….Om! Gonna work on that and get better by tomorrow. Maybe open a window…… that will be awesome.
P.S. We went swimming this evening (early) and man! was that nice. P.S.S. The ducklings are still freaking adorable. P.P.S.S. I’m getting closer to done on the Uncle Thomas mask. (dang, but I like this making masks thing- it is such a blast).
